Learn about Ireland's Immigrant Investment Programme

The Immigrant Investor Programme (IIP) is a great opportunity for wealthy investors to secure immigration permission to Ireland on the basis of a long term investment of a sum of money in a project which has been approved for that purpose by the Irish Department of Justice and other Government stakeholders. The programme is designed to encourage investors and business professionals from outside the European Economic Area to avail of opportunities of investing and locating their business interests in Ireland and acquire a secure residency status in Ireland. Applicants to the IIP must be high net worth individuals with a personal wealth of at least €2 million. The IIP requires applicants to invest a minimum of €1 million for a minimum of three years. The funds used for an investment must be from the applicant’s own resources and not financed through a loan or other such facility.

The IIP offers four investment options for potential investors.

  1. Enterprise Investment: A minimum of €1 million invested in an Irish enterprise for a period of at least three years
  2. Investment Fund: A minimum of €1 million invested in an approved investment fund for a period of at least three years. Such funds must be approved and regulated by the Central Bank
  3. Real Estate Investment Trusts: A minimum investment of €2 million in any Irish REIT that is listed on the Irish Stock Exchange, for a period of at least three years
  4. Endowment: A minimum €500,000 (or €400,000 where 5 or more applications are received) philanthropic donation to a project which is of public benefit to the arts, sports, health, culture or education in Ireland.

Four types of investment

The application process

Our team of professional consultants and lawyers will work hard on your behalf. We will ensure that all of the necessary documents, proofs and paperwork is fully completed to the highest standard before being submitted to the INIS. This will result in a speedy application process.

The requirements

You may apply to become an investor in the IIP if:

  • You are a person of good character
  • You have not been convicted of a criminal offence in any jurisdiction
  • You have a minimum net worth of €2 million
  • You have an interest in investing in one of the four eligible investment options mentioned above.

The three stages to your application

You establish your interest in applying for the Immigrant Investor Programme and sign a contract with the Irish Visa Investment Agency. You will then pay our standard fee to a solicitor.

We will then start the process of gathering all of the necessary paperwork to facilitate your visa application. We will ensure that the legal documentation is fully completed and all requirements are met.

The appointed solicitor fully examines the legal documents and finalises the application forms.

They lodge the application with the INIS and pay the application fee on your behalf.

When the INIS approves your application, usually within three months, the solicitor receives an official letter confirming your approval. The solicitor will notify you of this. You must lodge €1,000,000 with the solicitor within 2 weeks of being notified.

At this point the project operation and management fees due to Irish Visa Investment Agency are paid. Our consultants manage the project on your behalf. We will continue with the procedure so that you obtain your residency as quickly as possible.
